Fjällräven began in one man’s basement and then branched out all over the world. But our original goal hasn’t changed: to inspire and enable more people to walk with nature. Follow our journey from backpacks and tents to sustainable development and events.
Among the array of Fjällräven products, the iconic Kånken backpack stands out as a symbol of durability and simplicity, catapulting our brand to global recognition since its inception during the back-to-school season of 1978. Today, Kånken has become a ubiquitous sight worldwide, spanning a versatile family of backpacks, totepacks, mini backpacks, and accessories—a testament to its journey of problem-solving, imagination, innovation, and resilience.
Tree-Kånken is a tribute to Kånken’s first design from 1978. Throughout the years, Kånken has only been slightly redesigned, with its basic simplicity and functionality remaining the same. It is why Kånken has become a household name all over the world.
Kånken wouldn’t be Kånken without Vinylon F. This synthetic fibre has been used to make the classic everyday backpack (and our Kajka trekking backpack, too) since the beginning, and its durability is clearly proven.
